365 Girl Foundation & Book Founder & Author

Tracey Hawkins-Sydnor

365 Girl! Is a place where girls grow into amazing women who truly rock. I am working on bringing back the "good girl" look! 365 Girl is an immediate call to action on raising the self esteem of our young ladies between the ages of 10-18, so they make positive life decisions! The book is broken up into seven sections the physical, educational, social-motivational, relationships, spiritual, sexual, and pain-forgiveness.365 Girl also has a desire to motivate young ladies to love and explore careers in Math and Science. I believe that every young lady has the power to speak over her own life and demand excellence and greatness! It is time to take the limits off and this is the place to do it! The target age stops at 17, but there is something in book for women at every age. This is the place where girls take the limits off and begin to plan, dream, and accomplish the unthinkable!

Q: When was 365 Girls Rock Foundation created?
A: 365 Girl Foundation was founded in 2010.

Q: What is the meaning behind the title of your foundation?
A: The foundation was an extension of the book which was created to empower young ladies 365 days a year.

Q: Who was your biggest supporter when you decided to create 365 Girl?
A: My mom and sister Tia were key in helping market, finalize, and proof read the book, but my biggest supporter for the foundation was Michele Taylor who is now my Executive Director.

Q: Who inspired you to start your foundation?
A: My daughter Kristin who is 4 now, I was

watching the kids I have mentored over the years grow up and I have noticed that the moral compass and standards have changed drastically. I want things to be different by the time my daughter grows up. I want the "good girl" look to be popular again. I don't want to have the fight the battles I see parents fighting with their teenage daughters today.

Q: What are some of the biggest obstacles you face keeping your foundation going?
A: Finances and time. 90% of the funding to run my organization has come from me. My husband has been very supportive of my calling and has allowed me to fund the activities and events we put on, but there is so much more we want to do we just don't have the funds. It's extremely important for 365 events to remain free for participants because most families can't afford anything else.
My entire team has full time jobs ,careers, family responsibilities, and community involvement so time is a major hurdle as well but we find a way to make the time.

Q: How important is it to have an foundations like 365 Girl Rock?
A: It is so important to have organizations like 365 Girl. Our girls are battling low self-esteem, lack of interest in education, and lack of resources and motivation and it is starting to affect their life choices and my organization is there to encourage, empower, motivate and educate. We are making a difference and it amazing what a little guidance, love, and direction can do for a girl who thought she had no one.

Q: Where would you like 365 Girls Rock to be 5 years from now?
A: I see us doing exactly what we are doing now but on much larger stage. Currently we have a strong presence in Chicago and LA, 5 years from now we will have expanded to DC and Dallas, Atlanta, and Detroit.

We are also looking to acquire a house in Los Angeles and Chicago where the girls can come and hang out after school have fun, get tutored, play sports...positive activities that keep them from having to much idle time.

Q: What is the most rewarding part of the work you do?
A: Hearing and seeing success stories of girls whose lives and mindsets have been changed permanently for the better because of 365 Girl. We ran a successful 6 week after school program in Chicago last school year and the connection with the girls, their continued excitement each week, their thoughts on what was going on in their world...it was amazing. That's the reward...knowing girls are being exposed and changed.

Q: What advice would you give to someone thinking of giving back to their community but don't know where to start.
A: Find an area you are passionate about and google what has already been established and volunteer there is plenty of work to be done:)

Please show your support. Visit 365 Girl today and make a donations. Thank You. No amount is to small.
